About the NexaTools PDF Suite

Legal briefs, invoices, research papers, contracts PDF is the file format that handles them all. This suite gives you a complete set of PDF editing operations without sending your documents to a cloud service. The tools use two open-source JavaScript libraries: pdf-lib for document manipulation (merge, split, rotate, annotate) and PDF.js (Mozilla's renderer) for rasterizing PDF pages to images.

Tool-by-tool breakdown

PDF Merger

Combines multiple PDF files into a single document by copying each source document's page tree, resource dictionary, and content streams into a new pdf-lib PDFDocument object. AcroForm field name conflicts are resolved automatically. The output PDF preserves the original reading order of each source file's pages.

PDF Splitter

Extracts individual pages or custom page ranges (e.g., 13, 5, 7end) from a PDF and writes each range to a separate output file. The cross-reference table is rebuilt for each extracted document so it opens correctly in all PDF readers without needing repair.

Delete PDF Pages

Removes selected pages from a PDF using pdf-lib's removePage() method on a loaded PDFDocument instance. After deletion, the page index is rebuilt and the object stream is compacted so the output file doesn't carry orphaned object references.

Rotate PDF Pages

Applies rotation to selected pages (or all pages) in 90 increments by setting the Rotate entry in each page's dictionary. This is distinct from rotating the visual content inside the page the rotation value instructs PDF viewers how to orient the page without altering underlying glyph or image positions.

Add Page Numbers

Stamps sequential page numbers onto PDF pages by injecting a new content stream layer into each page using pdf-lib's content stream API. Position (header or footer), offset from the edge, font size, and starting number are all configurable. A first-page skip option is available for documents with a cover page.

PDF Watermark

Overlays a diagonal or horizontal text watermark on all pages of a PDF by composing a semitransparent text element using pdf-lib's graphics state operators. Opacity, font size, rotation angle, and text content are user-defined. Image watermarks are embedded as XObject references to minimize output file size.

PDF Redactor

Draws filled black rectangles over sensitive areas of a PDF using pdf-lib's rectangle drawing API. This overlay approach visually conceals content for most viewing contexts. Note that this method places an overlay on top of existing content streams it does not remove underlying text from the PDF's content layer. For forensically permanent redaction, the tool provides a flattening step that rasterizes the affected pages.

Images to PDF

Embeds JPG, PNG, and WebP images into a PDF document as inline image XObjects. Page dimensions auto-fit to each image's aspect ratio (or a fixed A4 size with letterboxing), and multi-image batches are combined into a single multi-page document in drag-and-drop order.

PDF to Images

Renders each page of a PDF at a configurable DPI scale factor using PDF.js's canvas renderer. Higher scale values (e.g., 3.0) produce sharper images suitable for print or OCR, at the cost of larger output file sizes. Pages are exported individually as PNG or JPEG, with a ZIP batch download option for multi-page documents.
